The History

The historic musical melodrama "Muskegon The Lumber Queen" was first produced at Muskegon High School in 1975. Fifty years later, we are bringing it back to the stage!

"Muskegon The Lumber Queen" is a one-hour family-friendly musical melodrama telling the story of early Muskegon’s lumbering heritage.

It is a living history lesson written and first produced for the Muskegon Children’s Theater, a Muskegon Public Schools project of the Hackley Fund. The economic impact of the logging industry and Muskegon’s early benefactors are presented with historical accuracy and humorous characters, offering students and grown-ups a chance to cheer for a story of their origin.
